Laidlaw Reiterates Buy Rating on Femasys (FEMY) with $23 Price Target
Last Friday after the market close, FEMY reported 2Q26 financial results and corporate updates. Our takeaways are given the promising commercial potential of launched FemaSeed based on its competitive advantages; and an encouraging prior clinical outcome of FemBloc with the pivotal (FINALE) study underway, the recent financing will be a major boost supporting the potential success of commercial and clinical developments of both assets. FEMY reported 2Q26 financial results with a net loss of ($4.5MM) vs. Laidlaw ($4.7MM) and the Street ($4.8MM). Net loss/share was ($1.33) vs. ($0.65) for Laidlaw and ($1.40) for the Street. FEMY currently has ~$31MM cash (proforma), with estimated operational runway deep into 2028. FEMY entered into a $30MM private placement early this month, which included major healthcare institutional investors like Nantahala Capital and Rosalind Advisors. We believe this might be the largest one since its IPO of ~$34MM in 6/2021. Given financial overhang was one of the major factors limiting the advancement of FEMY’s commercial and clinical developments, the enriched balance sheet could have significantly positive impact on both fronts to increase investor upside. FEMY started the part B portion (n=351) of FemBloc as a non-surgical permanent birth control pivotal (FINALE) study in 3/2026, and we view the recent major financing will help to advance this study forward. We estimate enrollment completion and 300-participant interim analysis could occur in 2028 with topline readout in 2029. 2Q26 topline was $0.3MM, lower than our ($0.8MM) and the Street’s ($0.7MM) estimates. FEMY indicated it was due to lower Y/Y FemVue sales. FEMY started commercial launch of FemaSeed Complete announced at the 2026 ACOG meeting for its use in community-based OB/GYN practices. Supported by the recent significant cash infusion, we anticipate commercial growth of FemaSeed suites to accelerate in 2H26 and beyond. We are reiterating our Buy rating and changing target price to $23.
